A secret hidden for 80 years. A promise to a dying man. And a deadly chase with the US government for the truth. Leon had been on worse dates...

Leon Aronofsky often felt there was something going on at work that no one ever wanted to talk about—and it wasn’t just the strangers lurking on the seventh floor, or the meeting room that was always broken, or even the CEO’s dreadful social skills—but, as a mid-level planner at a London media agency, he was used to being ignored.

MIDNIGHT

Then one night, after crashing out at the office party, Leon wakes up alone, in the dark, to find he’s trapped in the building, and that the company he works for is actually front for a secret technology project so out of this world that the U.S. government is suddenly trying to kill him.

When a dying colleague convinces him and ex-physicist, Izzy Jones, to keep the technology safe, they are thrown into an unknown, underground world of secret organisations, paid assassins and Silicon Valley billionaires.

RUN

Armed with little more than a third-degree hangover – and the vague assurances of Quinn, a shadowy American agent – can they find a way to stay alive? Who can they really trust? And how will they stop the secret from falling into the wrong hands and still get to his mum’s in time for Friday night dinner?

A BIT ABOUT OLIVER

Oliver was born and raised on the edge of north-west London in the 1970s and 80s until, eventually, they made him go out to work. Aside from a brief spot as an Animation Renderer on the animated film, ‘Granpa’, he spent most of his working life in Design. Over the years, he worked his way through various advertising and design agencies—designing campaigns, websites and apps for lots of well-known retail, travel and banking clients—until, eventually, he ended up working as a Creative Director for a global digital consultancy.

Growing up he spent a quite lot of time thinking about space, UFOs, NASA and why the Apollo Moon landings stopped landing. He read Marvel comics and science fiction books, and probably watched too much TV and too many movies. Eventually, he began wondering if he could ever make his own stories and even tried a bunch of times over the years but without much success.

Then finally, a few years ago, a friend just kind of dared him to start writing something, anything, even just a sentence or two, without thinking about what it was or where it was going… And that’s when the image of Leon Aronofsky, waking up alone in the dark, came to him and the book ‘Midnight Run’ was born.

In the other bits of his life, Oliver rattles around north-west London, trying to keep up with the mostly loving demands of his family and the other strange animals that live in his house. If there’s any time left, he avoids dairy, goes for the odd run, and walks his dog Indiana (yes, yes, that Indiana). Occasionally he bakes sourdough bagels from scratch.

He is currently working on a sequel to Midnight run and hopes to have it completed sometime next year
